Landscape Gardeners Servicing Mortlake

Gardens around Mortlake tend to be larger and more established than those closer to the city — mature trees, real lawn areas, and in many streets, proximity to the water.

That brings its own problems. Salt-laden wind burns soft foliage. Mature trees create dense shade and root competition that starves lawn. Older gardens often carry thirty years of accumulated planting decisions that no longer suit how the family uses the space.

Our horticulturists work with what is already established rather than clearing and starting again, which is usually both cheaper and better.

Garden Landscaping for Mortlake Properties

Waterside and near-water blocks need different plant choices. Salt spray and wind damage many popular garden plants within a season.

Plants that hold up well in exposed Canada Bay positions:

  • Westringia — tough, salt-tolerant, clips into a neat hedge.
  • Coastal rosemary and banksia — native, wind-hardy, low water needs.
  • Lomandra and Dianella — reliable grasses that handle both sun and salt.
  • Agapanthus and gazania — durable colour for exposed borders.
  • Lilly Pilly — good screening away from direct salt exposure.

Mulch matters more here too. Wind dries exposed soil quickly, and a good mulch layer holds moisture where roots can reach it.

Residential Landscaping Across Mortlake

Most jobs we quote around Mortlake, NSW are renovations, not new builds. A garden that worked when the children were small no longer suits the household ten years on.

Renovation usually means reshaping beds, removing plants that have outgrown their position, opening up sightlines, replacing tired lawn and bringing structure back. It is far less disruptive than a full rebuild and keeps the maturity that makes an established garden feel settled.

A staged garden makeover lets you spread the work and cost across seasons.

Turf Installation for Larger Mortlake Lawns

Bigger lawns need a real plan. On larger blocks, the difference between a good lawn and a poor one is preparation and watering, not the turf variety.

We handle soil testing and preparation, turf selection and laying, and ongoing turf management. For lawns that are thin rather than dead, lawn rejuvenation and garden fertilising often restore them without replacement.

Larger lawns also make garden irrigation worth doing properly — hand watering an area that size rarely delivers enough water deep enough.

What Affects Landscaping Prices Near Mortlake

We quote on site because photos never show slope, drainage or how established the existing garden is. The main cost drivers:

  • Size of the area being landscaped, and how much of it is lawn versus planting.
  • Slope and drainage. Falls toward the house or pooling water must be solved first.
  • Tree work. Root competition and overhanging canopy may need an arborist before landscaping.
  • Existing garden condition. Removing established plants and roots takes longer than clearing bare ground.
  • Irrigation. Zoning a large garden costs more than a single small zone, and saves more.

Every quote is fixed and itemised, so you can stage the work if you would rather not do everything at once.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

We engaged Greenz to do a major gardening clean up and general lawn service on the family home. We’re busy people and really just don’t have the time to maintain the yard, so the yard and gardens really were out of control.

The team were FANTASTIC. Just WOW.

The boys cleaned up the gardens and the yard (a huge undertaking), and the yard and gardens have not looked or felt better. From the initial consultation right through to the finishing touch ups, the attention to detail, personalised service and value for money are +++.

We will absolutely be using your services again.

Thank you, Greenz!

Before they came, my yard looked like it was sponsored by chaos. Adam and Ben and the rest of the team were instrumental in turning my garden from something that was so average to an amazing oasis. They were honest and open in all communication and gave professional and cohesive advice that catered to my original vision but it turned out so much more than I could have ever hoped for. If I could give more stars I would but alas only can do 5 so 5 it is! I’m pretty sure my plants are now living a better life than I am.

I have been using Greenz for over 10 years to maintain my gardens and have found them to be exemplary. They always show up when they say they will, and are affable, knowledgeable and committed to doing their job properly. Whichever team shows up they have always done an excellent job and satisfied any specific requests that I have had of them. The owner, Ben, comes to my home periodically to review the work that has been done and to discuss any additional work which I might want to undertake, which I appreciate greatly. I cannot recommend this business highly enough. Keep up the great work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions Before You Call

Answers to the questions we hear most from Sydney homeowners and property managers

Do you offer landscaping near Mortlake?

Yes. Greenz Gardenscaping services Mortlake and the wider City of Canada Bay area, including garden design, renovation, turf, irrigation, planting and ongoing maintenance for houses, strata and commercial grounds.

How much does landscaping cost near Mortlake?

Price depends on area size, slope, drainage, how established the current garden is and whether irrigation is included. We give a fixed itemised quote after visiting, so you can adjust scope before committing.

Which plants survive salt and wind near the water?

Westringia, coastal banksia, lomandra, Dianella and agapanthus all handle exposure well. Soft-leafed ornamentals and many exotics burn in salt wind, so plant selection matters more on exposed blocks.

Can you renovate an established garden without removing everything?

Yes, and it is usually the better option. Mature plants take years to replace. We reshape beds, remove only what has outgrown its position, and rebuild structure around what is worth keeping.

Why does my lawn die under the trees?

Shade and root competition. Mature trees take water and nutrients before the lawn can reach them. Options include selective canopy thinning, shade-tolerant buffalo turf, or replacing lawn with shade planting.

How long does a landscaping project take?

Small renovations often take a few days. Larger projects involving drainage, turf and planting typically run one to two weeks. Weather and access affect timing, and we confirm a schedule in your quote.

Do you also maintain the garden afterwards?

Yes. Many clients move onto a regular maintenance schedule once work is complete, which protects the investment and keeps new planting establishing properly.

How do I book a quote?

Call 0405 595 123 or contact us. We will visit Mortlake, walk the garden with you and provide a fixed, itemised quote.
